Since we are talking about various shops, I'd like to take a moment and mention Charlie's Fly Box.

www.charliesflyboxinc.com

I haven't ordered much from Charlie recently, but he went out of his way last winter to track down the real Klinkhammer hooks from Partridge last winter. I also ordered some other fly tying products and they were shipped very promptly and everything was top notch. As I start more tying, I'm sure I'll be making a phone call or two to his shop.

If you haven't visited his site, I would highly recommend checking it out. He has some of the best fly tying tutorials on the internet.

and his in person teachings are very helpful. If he didn't show me a few simple tricks here and there, I'd be a lost soul.

You're on the wrong side of the screen, Silly!
The problem I have with CFB is that guy that runs the place is just too damn good looking...I can hardly stand him! unsure.gif

hmmmm, wonder who that short, balding gnome they used for the FFM article was???
Have to give CFB an A1 rating, must be the gnomes...

Not to be the corrector of people but I figure since this will be used for reference purposes I'd like to make the update to the link, the link posted by Paul is the old link.

The new link is http://www.charliesflyboxinc.com

Peace!

Joel-
I am happy to say that BOTH of the links now point to our site, as God intended. All the website fiasco is behind us now and we can get on with gettin' on! Applause.gif
Thanks Guys;-)

i've been an advocate of CFB from the first time I visited the website. Charlie and Ross are very helpful at the shop, and the body of free material on the website is unmatched anywhere. Plus, the demo days and presentations complete the package. You can go in and say "i want to try tying X" and they'll have all the materials in your hand in seconds. I've said it on other boards--i drive past 3 shops (and more and more big boxes) from Englewood just to get up to Arvada to buy from CFB.

Shame On You.gif Now if we could get the f*&%'ing Turkish hackers and porn spammers to leave the CFB website alone the world would be a better place.

I end up cleaning out 2-25 invalid registrations a day! These people are relentless. It amounts to a monumental waste of time. mad.gif

i'm no hacker/cracker/malicious computer type, but i can see the "thrill," on some level, of hacking into top level government sites for whatever reason (just the shear "can I do it" approach). But, for the life of me, I can't understand what satisfaction someone would get hijacking these boards. Charlie's board (as opposed to his main site) doesn't seem to get a ton of traffic, and while this board certainly seems to get more, what possible thrill is it to hijack a regional fly fishing board?

I don't think they are hackers rather spamers. Most of the user names they try to enter often have something to do with sex, drugs, enlargment stuff, etc. I think they simply want to login, drop a spam message and leave. Another forum didn't have admin apporval on and we saw all sorts of spam crap for a few days.

There are spammers that make up to 6 figures spamming.

It's worse than whirling disease because at some point, the vast majority of the infected fish die off.

Spammers don't seem to die.
