Well broke down and decided to try the Simms Rivertek wading boot. Had a hard time deciding between the L2 and the Rivertek. Liked the L2 because it is lighter (58oz) in weight but it is also a narrower boot @EE. on the other hand the Rivertek is heavier (76oz) and has a EEEE width. They both are made with synthetic leather which is a plus. No shrinkage like nubuck.

It seems that at least with my foot (Std D width) that ordering the boot 1 size over your street shoe is the correct fit. I wear a expedition smartwool sock and have Simms Classic Guide waders. The rivertek fit quite well and provided alot of room in the toe of the boot. even with the EEEE width the boot was not sloppy. Really a nice fit.

First time out the boots a pretty stiff. So I still have some break in time. The quick tie laces at first i wasn't sure if i was going to like. But they worked well and tightening the boot was no trouble and I did not have to re-tight throughout the day.

So far i can recommend the Rivertek Boot. Lots of support, comfortable and less than 100 skins.

I've only been able to use mine 3 times so far, & agree, Mike, NICE...
...the jury's still out on the lace system, boots have plenty of support, but the give in the elastic laces makes 'em hard to cinch...

...anyone looking, Sierra Trading Post has the last of the RiverTek studded Aquastealth @ a good price...

I agree Gene. First time out that stretching of the laces is not normal. Felt like they were going to snap Whew.gif when I chinched them up. But I was proven wrong. worthy[1].gif Got a nice snug fit...not overly tight....and they held for the day with no adjustments. Now replacing them, thats another issue! Big Grin.gif

agreed, on all accounts.

Got the 14's. Had to go through J Fisher in NYC to get them.

Comfy, lots of support and you get used to the lace "system"
