Quincy is scheduled to open March 1st. I know a guy that drives by it every day and said it hasn't had ice since before Christmas. Obviously there will be a frenzy of people during opening week but will the fish just be scared because of the traffic or will they be receptive...even though there hasn't been an official "Ice Off" like at Spinney? Chatfield is in the same boat, I don't get out enough to see other lakes and reservoirs in the area but assuming the lower elevation lakes are in the same boat...What do you expect? (Veterans will probably have some good knowledge)

I think it will fish fine. There are always a bunch of people at Quincy. I don't think it will affect the fishing much especially if you are in a boat. Its a great place to work out the bugs before the season really picks up. Plus its convienent. Have you fished there before?

I fished there once last year. I work a few miles away and got a pontoon for Christmas so I plan on hitting it often this year.

I have a coworker that passes by Quincy each morning and told me yesterday that there 50+' of ice on the north edge of the lake. WIth this cold snap this week it might just have an actual ice-off. rolleyes.gif At least it may prevent the lake from turning over too soon.

Interesting point. I was there the first couple days last year and it was pretty fun. I ended up picking up a bunch of perch too. I wasn't expecting that much. They just run right under your boat and circle. Most of the fish I have caught there were 12 to 16 inchers rainbows. My wife picked up a couple small browns. A light weight rod there makes it even that much more fun. The officers there are really strict. If you have a boat you need whistle, floatation and the usual stuff (license etc.) I have yet to see them search boxes but I have seen them shut down some kids using bait. I will have to meet up with you when I am down there. I have an outcast pontoon. Love that thing.

I'll be in the bright yellow ODC Sport. I plan on being there on as many Friday's as I can. Care to share fly patterns for the lake? I've been tying chironomids in as many sizes and colors as I can think of but anything else you'd share would be appreciated!

Oh, BTW, buddy said about half the lake had ice today with snow on top. We've got a few more nights of single digits to contend with too! Brrrrr...
