Here's a picture of my boat. I just got it for X-mas and it hasn't been on water yet.

Here's how I'm storing it right now and while I thought of it to be a temp fix, I'm really liking it as it's out of the way.

I'm adding an anchor system hopefully this weekend and I'll post some pictures when done.

Tom - More dreaming at this point. I'm also thinking about going the way of a pontoon.

How do you plan on hauling your boat around? Do you have a truck or some sort of rack setup on your vehicle?

Mmmm, I just bought a Passat but still have a Grand Cherokee...I'm convinced I'll be tearing it down and rebuilding each time. My initial thoughts was to just strap it on top of the Jeep but since I travel I-25 every day and average 80mph I figured it to be unnecessary wear and tear. One thing I'm going to try soon is to see if I can take it down far enough to stick in the Passat.

It took me less than 30 strokes to fill one toon with the pump that came with it and that was the worst part last time I borrowed one. The frame goes together really fast too...the biggest problem I see with tearing it down each time is the chance to misalign the pontoons and tracking will be thrown off. I'm going to fully inflate it and mark exactly where the frame joins the toon so I can get it really close each time.

I'm guessing i can have the thing put together in ten minutes or so...if I wear my waders and boots there I'll make that time up ... rolleyes.gif

I am thinking about getting this trailer for the pontoon boat. I just need to get some measurements for my toon in built out mode to make sure everything will work.

Trailer Possibility

As for my toon, I do not have nearly enough pictures of it in action. Here is a shot that Shoe took last October.

Sam, that trailer works great for transport. I would get the one with 12" wheels though. Pretty easy to make some carpeted rails for the toons to sit on. Das and Cherno's buddy Danny2323 have the same deal; works nice even with Danny's big toon. Might want to contact them to see if you can get some pics.

That is good to hear on the trailer... I was looking at the 12 inch wheel version too... but a little more on the cash side. If its worth it though, I will go that route.

I had searched the other stillwater board for a thread on the trailer because I could have sworn there was info but wasnt able to produce on just the word "trailer". Perhaps I will try searching for harbor freight or something. I am glad to hear that it actually works well for people. I just remember that front side conversation and not any actual findings after use.

My other thought on this trailer was to build it to haul 2 pontoons. Using the stake side holders a second level could be added fairly easily I think.

Cool, I remember you guys had issues with stacking them directly on top of each other. I searched on "transport" in archived content and post bodies for the Stillwater board and came up with quite a few threads about the trailers. Even found this link to a pic of Danny's:

I'm brand new to the board, and am also looking for an economical solution to transport 2 pontoons (8'and 9') with my old Suburban. Any suggestions greatly appreciated

My fishing buddy and I carry 2 eight-footers on top of his Cherokee. Mine is a little wider, so it goes up first. It's a little tricky getting his up on top, but we can do it and neither of us breaks 6 ft. Does catch a little wind, so I wouldn't want to drive very far at highway speeds, but it's a solution for getting back and forth between camp and the river.

Don't have a picture of them loaded up, but here are the boats (mine the red one).

Thanks Trigg. I'll give it a shot. If you can do it on your Cherokee, I should be able to handle it on the Suburban. Then again, I may be able to fit the smaller pontoon inside and put one on top. I'd love to see a picture of the two toons on your Cherokee!

I agree. I'm hoping to talk Paul into teaching a school for fishing dogs... Applause.gif

Tim, Nice looking photos. Oddly enough, I always thought you were a bigger guy! tongue.gif Looks like you will need a three seater pretty soon!

Saul, good looking drifter. Was that photo taken on the Bighorn?
