Does anyone know if you can reach the famed Paradise Valley spring creeks from the river? How do they keep people out from walking up from the river?

The park a couple of these down by the Yellowstone River as a deterrent! biggrin.gif Peace.gif

When I fished there years ago there were fences to keep you out. Didnt one of the creeks have a river keeper?

Creek by Creek:

Dupuy's: All of the water in Depuy's Spring Creek is actually diverted from Armstrong's where the spring originates so legally speaking the high water mark law does not apply. Besides that fact, the water goes through a long, deep culvert before it enters the Yellowstone so even if it were legal it would be extremely difficult to get to.

Armstrong's: All of the water from this spring is diverted to Depuy's and doesn't actually enter the Yellowstone so there is no way to get to it.

Nelson's: I have not actually seen where this one dumps into the 'Stone as I've never floated that section of river when the channel where Nelson's dumps in has enough water to get a boat down. But if I remember right from fishing on Nelson's it also goes through a long, deep culvert that prevents fisherman from getting to it.

PM me if you want some info on how to get on some spring creeks around Bozemon

ColoradoTrout is correct, and I'll add to that. Nelson's (and the others) do dump in to the Yellowstone eventually. Nelson's now ends at the bridge near the red barn where a section of private property marks the beginning of the last section, which is heavily silted.

Under the Montana Stream Access law, spring creeks are not considered navigable, and may be restricted to the public. Both outlets are posted.

In response to what Olive Bugger said, do you guys know what the rules are for Idaho pertaining to spring creeks?
