I'm new to tying. I want to make my Dad some for his birthday and the books I've bought don't have good chironomids in them. The book that came with my kit is apparently not for beginners as the first instruction on the Chironomid is "Dress hook". Can anyone give me a good website or information for easy-to-follow instructions for a basic chironomid? Please? Thanks!

http://www.flyfishersrepublic.com/patterns/chromie/ This is a really easy pattern to tie up. If you don't have the tinsel, you can substitute with wire, that is what I do and it works just fine.

PS. for a dry fly that I think is a great pattern of the like. I use it ALL the time with great success and it is VERY easy to tie.
