Has anyone else received a phone call from TU asking for monthly payment with your credit card? The whole thing sounds like a scam.
1. They have nothing on the website indicating such a plan. As such, I'm certainly not giving my credit card to some guy over the phone when I have no idea this is even a true group.
2. I requested that my money be sent to MT TU if I sign up for the plan. The guy seemed confused.
3. The idea behind the plan is to reduce expenses and mailings. Sounds good to me, so why does TU send about 5-10 "reminders" when you don't renew on time? Seems like one would be sufficient.
4. TU has my e-mail address. Use it.
5. I hate telemarketers. Especially those who no nothing about the topic they are trying to sell. If they want $10/month out of me, I better get an opportunity to dictate where that money is going, otherwise, I'm giving it to my local MCFF chapter. I don't mind some of the money going to national, but not the whole wad. I hate telemarketers.
Thanks for letting me rant.

Do you have Caller ID? If so, you should be able to tell where the call came from. It's probably not TU, but if it's a telemarketer you could at least ask TU if they work for them. I don't answer any calls where the Caller ID is blocked by the caller.

In this day and age, I can't image people giving a credit card over the phone from an unknown caller.

Ditto on the redundant written renewal "reminders." I received them regularly until recently.
The thing that intrigues me is that I sent a national TU renewal in January via the Guadalupe River TU chapter, and I haven't heard word one from TU since then -- no membership card, no decal, no magazine, no calendar, no nothin'.
Haven't had any phone approach from TU -- or any organization posing as TU.

I don't know if this would work since TU is a Not for Profit organization. I would think joining the National Do Not Call list would take care of it?

Or even a 'known' caller. The only times I have given out my CC on the phone were when I made the call.
