Does anyone have much experience fishing around Glacier Park? I've been working on a mapping project and ran across some nice looking water based upon the aerial photography.

How do the smaller creeks that feed into the main stems of the Flathead fish? Seems like my biggest obstacle might be crossing the river to get over to a few of these small feeders.

Is that the Middle Fork along Hwy 2? By August you can almost always easily wade across in many places especially up closer to Essex. And yeah, there's fish in lots of them. Watch for bull redds. I think the name of the book is Fishing in Glacier NP and it lists most of those tribs to the Middle Fork.

MT,

Middle Fork doesn't meander like that around Essex, but you're pretty darn close. My first guess would have been the main stem down toward the head of Flathead Lake except for the fact there's no development around it. I plugged Essex in on Google Maps, roamed around a little and found this creek. Never have fished it but it might be worth a try.

Regards,
Scott

I have never really looked at an aerial photo of the Middle Fork, so when Paul said GNP, it was the only one I could think of that flowed East/West. It never seemed to meander like that, but I've been surprised by seeing photos of other rivers from the air. So, I guess it will remain a secret for you and Paul.

The photo is a small feeder stream that dumps into the middle fork. Those meanders looks wonderful...

Unfortunately, you can also tell where the high water mark is too, and the water is a long ways away.
