  • Hook: TMC 2847, #18-24
  • Thread: Griffin 14/0, black
  • Wing: Hareline Pearl Iceabou
  • Post: Chartreuse Hi-Viz fibers
  • Tail: White Micro fibbets
  • Abdomen: Medium Pearl Flashabou
  • Thorax: Black Superfine Dubbing

This fly was created by noted Umpqua fly designer Dennis Potter.

Directions

  1.    Start the thread on the hook one hook eye back and make 2-3 wraps.
  2. Step One
  3.   Tie in your wing with a series of figure eight wraps so the wings splay out to each side
  4.   Tie in your hi-viz post with a series of figure eight wraps and then post it “parachute” style with 6-8 wraps around the base.
  5. Steps Two
  6.   Measure the tails to 2 hook lengths and tie in directly behind the post. Wrap back 1/3 of the way into the bend.
  7.   Angle cut the flashabou and tie in at the rear of the abdomen, wrapping the thread forward towards the eye.
  8.   Wrap your thread towards the post and then wrap the flashabou forward to within 1 hook eye length of the post; tie off.
  9. Steps Four - Six
  10.   Dub your thorax forward with a series of figure eight wraps to the eye.
  11.   Whip finish.
  12.   Cut the wings and post to length.
